Common Ground Christian Fellowship was born out of a desire to share the love of Jesus with the many individuals and families living in the area surrounding Gruening Park Apartments in the Lemon Creek area of Juneau, Alaska. We imagined what it would look like, if we did more than just tell people about Jesus, but rather through faithful, consistent, loving actions show them who Jesus is.
Our desire is to live out our faith daily, being involved in the lives of those we serve. Our hope and prayer was and is to see families in this neighborhood come to Jesus, experience His love and be redeemed and reborn!
In September of 2011, a small group of Christians began to meet on Sunday mornings for prayer, worship, and Bible Study in the Recreation Hall at Gruening Park Apartments. We were a bit anxious, not at all sure where God would lead us or what He had in store for us. None of us would have been considered “overly qualified” by a casual observer to be starting a work such as this. There were none among us who had a Bible degree, no prior experience in church planting, no paid staff, and no financial support.
All we really did have was an unwavering faith in a good and faithful God. We believed He lead us to this place of ministry. We believed strongly that if we continued to show up in faithful consistency, He would be honored, and would, in His time, reveal how and where we should become involved in this community.
Today, we are so blessed to still be loving and serving the families in and around Gruening Park. Through various means and methods, God has allowed us to carry forth, including a regular meeting on Sunday mornings where we eat, pray, worship, and look into God’s Word together.
If you would like to come see what Common Ground Fellowship looks like in person, we invite you to join us any Sunday at 10:00 AM.
